The VA New York Regional Benefit Office administers compensation, pension, and vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits for Veterans, Servicemembers, their families and survivors in 31 eastern New York counties. We also offer the following services:
The "No Veteran is an Island" program began in 2001 to help Veterans with PTSD and other diagnoses stay healthy, well, and independent. The program is 6 months and Veterans participate once a week for two hours using computer training and a guided learning recovery treatment model to encourage psychoeducational empowerment, a process to improve medical treatment through learning, social engagement and support.
The program is a partnership with VA Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment and several VA medical centers (Northport, Brooklyn, Bronx, Albany, Montrose, and Manhattan).
Participants have a noted decrease in symptoms and in hospitalizations and an increase in their ability to successfully communicate with others, take required medication, and keep their medical appointments.
If you would like to participate in this program, you must be a Veteran with a service-connected disability and found to be entitled for vocational rehabilitation benefits.
You can apply for vocational rehabilitation benefits online at eBenefits. To submit a paper application, download and complete a VA Form 28-1900, "VA Form 28-1900, "Disabled Veterans Application for Vocational Rehabilitation" and mail it to our
