On March 11, 2021, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched VRRAP for Veterans who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Veterans participating in VRRAP can receive education and training for high-demand occupations, which is determined by the Commissioner of Labor Statistics. Veterans will receive up to 12 months of tuition and fees and a monthly housing allowance based on Post-9/11 GI Bill rates. To learn more about VRRAP and how to apply for the program, Veterans can visit www.va.gov. Veterans can also contact the Education Call Center at 888-442-4551 between 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. EST, Monday-Friday to speak with a VA education representative.
Outreach, Transition and Economic Development (OTED) will host a Virtual Rural Outreach Symposium on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 1:00-2:30PM (EDT). This symposium will feature representatives from VBA and VHA who will share information about OTED – Economic Development Initiatives, rural health initiatives, and rural outreach efforts; to connect Veteran in rural and remote areas with benefits and services that may be available to them. Guest speakers will educate and empower attendees with information that is vital to Veterans residing in rural/remote areas and VA staff who provide assistance and support to these Veterans.
