More About the Baltimore Regional Office

Working with the U.S. Department of Defense on Integrated Disability Evaluation System

The Baltimore RO is actively engaged in the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES), a joint program with the Department of Defense (DOD) to improve the disability rating process. The program aims to create a single disability exam conducted to VA standards and used by both VA and DOD, develop a single disability rating completed by VA that is binding on both departments, and provide payments of VA benefits within 30 days of a Servicemember’s separation from service. Our Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) program added staff for expanded outreach at Fort Meade, Patuxent River Naval Air Station, and the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis in support of the national IDES mission.

Ending Homelessness Among Veterans in Maryland

The Baltimore RO assigns knowledgeable staff to reach and assist Veterans who are homeless in Maryland. Our Homeless Veteran Coordinator, along with other participants from the RO, took part in the Prince George’s County Stand Down, which provided homeless Veterans with job placement opportunities, medical care, and information about applying for benefits they may have earned.
