Event: The Stand Down serves local homeless Veterans as well as service members and their families, including those in need within the community. Services provided during the Stand Down include, but are not limited to medical screenings, behavioral health services, drug and alcohol services, employment support, housing assistance, social services, haircuts, food, and donations. Representatives from the Veterans Benefits Adminstration (VBA) will be available to meet with Veterans. Experts from the Pittsburgh VA Regional Office will be available to provide information regarding service-connected compensation and to offer on-the-spot assistance with individual questions and concerns.
Expected Participants: Homeless Veterans, Service Members, and their families

Rick and Sylvia Crawford purchased, renovated and saved the home of WWI Veteran Harry Colmery, who is known as the father of the GI Bill. Colmery's former home, built in 1915, is in Topeka, Kansas.
The Southwest Virginia Student Veterans Alliance hosted the 4th Annual Veteran Suicide Awareness March on 5/27. They walked 14 miles to help raise awareness for Veteran suicide prevention.
