Construction and Valuation

What is Construction and Valuation?

The Phoenix Construction and Valuation Section is pleased to have the responsibility for one of the first steps in the home loan process for our Veterans: determining the value of the home. Before a mortgage loan can be approved an appraisal is made of the home the Veteran wishes to purchase. Types of homes includes both existing and new construction. This appraisal is done to assure VA that the loan will be secured by sufficient collateral and to ensure that the Veteran is not paying more for the house than it is worth.

Please be aware...VA does not guarantee the CONDITION of the house which you are buying, whether it is new or previously occupied. VA guarantees only the LOAN!

What is Specially Adapted Housing?

Veterans or servicemembers who have specific service-connected disabilities may be entitled to a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the purpose of constructing an adapted home or modifying an existing home to meet their adaptive needs. The goal of the Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant Program is to provide a barrier-free living environment that affords the Veterans or servicemembers a level of independent living he or she may not normally enjoy.
