You are safe at the Newark Regional Office

At VA, safety is more than a checklist. It’s part of our culture and the foundation of everything we do. As our facilities expand in-person services that were paused due to the coronavirus pandemic, we want you to feel confident knowing your safety and wellbeing remain our number one priority at the Newark Regional Office.

When you arrive at the Newark RO for serivce, please go directly to Public Contact for screening.

Here are a few safety measures you can expect:

SCREENING

We screen everyone who comes to a VA facility for COVID-19 symptoms, including our staff and custodial workers.

FACE COVERING

Everyone who enters our facilities is required to wear a face covering. Please bring your own. If you are unable to do so, we will provide one you can use while you’re here

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

We thoroughly sanitize and disinfect all high traffic common areas (to include but not limited to elevators and public restrooms), per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

We will help you practice physical distancing throughout our facilities with signage, floor markers, and more space in waiting areas.

DON’T WAIT. Listen to your symptoms. If you feel like something is not quite right and you would normally see a doctor during non-COVID-19 times, call your care team. You just may save your life.

Also, we continue to offer virtual services, as we know these services have been valuable to you. However, for those who require in-person services, the Newark Regional Office offers limited assistance, by appointment only.

Veterans can call Public Contact at 973-297-3216 or VR&E at 973-297-3200.

These measures are only a few ways in which we are working to keep you safe. VA has earned a trust score above 90% in a recent Veteran survey. We will continue to earn your trust by the necessary steps to ensure a safe and clean environment for both our Veterans and employees!

For questions, please contact Jennifer Myers, Public Affairs Officer at 973-297-3384 or jennifer.myers6@va.gov
