More About the St. Petersburg Regional Office

Operating VA’s Home Loan Guaranty Program for Veterans in Three States and Two Territories

The St. Petersburg RO is one of eight VA regional loan centers (RLCs) administering VA’s Loan Guaranty program, which helps Veterans obtain mortgage loans from private lenders by guaranteeing a portion of the loan against loss. This program can also prevent Veterans from losing their homes during temporary financial difficulties. We serve Veterans in these states and territories: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands. We also assist with delinquent VA loans on a nationwide basis.

Working to End and Prevent Homelessness Among Veterans

St. Petersburg RO continues it’s efforts to end and prevent homelessness among Veterans in Florida through increased benefits outreach and enhanced collaboration.  Amongst other initiatives and efforts, the RO assists homeless and at-risk Veterans file benefits claims and gather evidence to support these claims.  It coordinates with VA health colleagues to assist these Veterans through Homeless Summits and medical examinations used to determine benefits entitlement.  It also collaborates with other Federal partners, such as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Veterans advocates in the community, including Veterans Service Organizations, to affect, improve, and develop means to best support this sensitive population of Veterans.
