Hilo VBA Benefits Counselor Currently Unavailable

Week of June 12-16, 2023:
A Honolulu-based Benefits Counselor will be in the Hilo Benefits Office to answer benefits questions and assist with the claim process.

How Do I Get Assistance in the Meantime?: Contact the VA National Call Center at 1-800-827-1000 OR contact the Honolulu Regional Office Benefits Team at 808-935-6163 OR email, pctc.vbahon@va.gov


For security reasons, please do not include your Social Security number in the email or phone call.

What Happens Next?: A Benefits Counselor will contact you within 24 hours of leaving a message or receipt of email. If your message or email is received after 2:30pm, or on a holiday, or on a weekend, you will be contacted the next business day. Benefit Counselors are available to address non-health care related inquiries related to the PACT Act, Compensation, Pension, Survivor Benefits, Claims, Appeals, and answer general VA-related questions.

Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP)

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched VRRAP for Veterans who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Veterans participating in VRRAP can receive education and training for high-demand occupations, which is determined by the Commissioner of Labor Statistics.

Veterans will receive up to 12 months of tuition and fees and a monthly housing allowance based on Post-9/11 GI Bill rates. 

To learn more about VRRAP and how to apply for the program, Veterans can visit www.va.gov. Veterans can also contact the Education Call Center at 888-442-4551 between 7 a.m.-6 p.m. EST, Monday-Friday to speak with a VA education representative.
