New Benefits Counselor: Big Island: Hilo and Kona
Hilo: Hilo Federal Building, Suite 327, 154 Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720
Kona: Kona Vet Center, 73-4976 Kamanu St, Hale Kui Plaza, Suite 207, Kona HI 96740
Event: A VA Benefits Counselor has been permanently assigned to the Hilo VA Benefits Office. Hours will be Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:00pm HST with last customer being seen at 3:30pm, except those days when the counselor is scheduled to be in Kona. Starting in September, the counselor will be at the Kona Vet Center every first and third Wednesday, 10:00 am to 2:00pm HST, with the last customer being seen No-Later-Than 1:30pm. The Benefits Counselor will be available to answer VA Non-Healthcare related benefit questions and assist with the claims process.
Expected Participants: Veterans, Family Members, Surviving Spouses, and Community Providers
AN EVENT FOR THE HOMELESS AND THEIR FAMILIES
Location: Keehi Lagoon Memorial Park, 2685 N. Nimitz Highway, Honolulu, HI
Dates & Time: Thursday, September 27, 2018 | 9:00 a,m.-4:00 p.m.
Event: This event allows homeless families access to healthcare experts along with community agencies that provide services at one site to ensure coordinated care; offering tools and support to homeless individuals and their families seeking to stabilize their housing situation.
Veterans will have the opportunity to speak with subject matter experts from the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System, VA Regional Benefits Office and other community agencies.
There will be approximately 25-30 service providers for housing, health care, health/wellness, employment, financial benefits, clothing, haircuts, food, music, entertainment, and more.
