VA’s Fort Harrison Regional Office (RO) administers a variety of services, including Compensation, Education, Insurance, Loan Guaranty, Pension, and Veteran Readiness and Employment for Veterans, Servicemembers, their families and survivors in Montana. We offer the following additional services:
Visit VA.gov Home | Veterans Affairs for an overview of VA’s benefits and services and for links to detailed eligibility and application information.
The Fort Harrison RO is one of a few ROs selected to pilot VA’s new “Transformation Process Model” and the new Web-based, electronic, paperless claims processing system, called the Veteran Benefits Management System (VBMS). In early 2012, we began implementing and piloting the new processing model and system, which are part of VA’s transformation effort.
Our RO’s Military Services Coordinator (MSC) supports the military Transition Assistance Program (TAP) by providing monthly VA benefits briefings and claims intake and counseling to separating members of the Air Force stationed at Malmstrom AFB. VRE staff on the Disability TAP Team also meet monthly with discharging Malmstrom Air Base military personnel, providing them with information about Veteran Readiness and Employment services and other benefits they may have earned.
The Fort Harrison RO is currently collaborating with VA Montana Health Care System and the Department of Defense to buttress the Integrated Disability Evaluation System at Malmstrom Air Force Base. Given that the base is located approximately 100 miles north of the RO, we are hoping to establish a videoconferencing link with Malmstrom to expedite services to program participants.
