Director: Michael P. Rohrbach
Michael P. Rohrbach was appointed Director of the VA Denver and Cheyenne Regional Offices effective March 14, 2021. As Director, he is responsible for administering VA benefits and services to a population of approximately 450,000 Veterans and their families living in Colorado and Wyoming. This includes administering approximately $2.2 billion in annual Compensation and Pension benefits and Veteran Readiness and Employment services.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Rohrbach served as Assistant Director of the VA Portland and Anchorage Regional Offices providing executive oversight of approximately 285 employees administering VA benefits and services to a population of approximately 380,000 Veterans and their families living in Alaska, Oregon and five southwest counties of Washington state. This included the administration of approximately $1.7 billion in annual Compensation and Pension benefits and Veteran Readiness and Employment Services.
Mr. Michael Rohrbach is a graduate of the University Of South Florida’s School Of Business and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Katie Claussen was appointed the Assistant Director of the Denver and Cheyenne Regional Offices effective March 27, 2022. Ms. Claussen is responsible for the executive oversight of approximately 340 employees administering VA benefits and services to a population of approximately 450,000 Veterans and their families living in Colorado and Wyoming. This includes administering approximately $2.2 billion in annual Compensation and Pension benefits and Veteran Readiness and Employment services.
Prior to this appointment, Ms. Claussen served as the Veterans Service Center Manager and Assistant Veterans Service Center Manager in Denver. Ms. Claussen began her career in Lincoln, NE, as a Veterans Service Representative in 2005 and moved to Washington D.C. as a Program Analyst for the Office of Business Process Integration in 2008. From there, she moved to St. Petersburg, FL, and began her management career moving through the ranks as an Assistant Coach, Coach, and Assistant Veterans Service Center Manager.
Chuck Cates took this position at the Cheyenne RO in March 2010. He began his VA career in 2001 as a Veterans Service Representative in St. Petersburg, Fla. Prior to his career with VA, Mr. Cates served in the U.S. Army for five years as a military intelligence analyst and noncommissioned officer.
Jim Ziruolo was named to this position in August 2010. Prior to arriving, he was the VR&E Officer in Houston RO. Mr. Ziruolo also worked as the Assistant VR&E Officer in Seattle. Mr. Ziruolo began his VA career in 1989 as a Veteran Readiness and Employment Specialist in Columbus, Ohio, after graduating from Kent State University with a Master of Education.
Mr. Ziruolo completed VA’s Division Leadership and Management Training at the Veteran Benefits Academy in Baltimore in February 2004.
Mr. Ziruolo served in the Air Force/Air Force Reserves for 22 years. During that time, he logged 3,500 hours of flight time as a C-130 Flight Engineer.
