TSGLI Loss Standards

14 - 15. Limb Reconstruction

When a surgeon documents that the member meets one or two of the surgical criteria below, the member is eligible for a TSGLI benefit for limb reconstruction:


If the member has... AND a surgeon certifies that...

A bony injury

The bony injury requires grafting to reestablish stability and enable mobility of the limb


A soft tissue defect

The soft tissue defect requires grafting/flap reconstruction to reestablish stability


A vascular injury

The vascular injury requires vascular reconstruction to restore blood flow and support bone and soft tissue regeneration


A nerve injury

The nerve injury requires nerve reconstruction to allow for motor and sensory restoration and muscle re-enervation
