John S. Limpose was appointed as the Director of the Waco VA Regional Office (VARO) in March 2012. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Limpose served as the Assistant Director of the Cleveland VARO.
As Director of the Waco VARO, Mr. Limpose is responsible for administering
non-medical benefits provided to Veterans, Service members, and dependents – including compensation, pension, and vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits. The Waco VARO serves a potential clientele of more than 920,000 Veterans, living in a service area that extends from El Paso to Texarkana, and from Austin to Amarillo. Mr. Limpose oversees a compensation and pension (C&P) benefits delivery program with annual outlays of over $2.2 billion in C&P benefits. The Waco VARO has a Day One Brokering Center (D1BC) located onsite. The Waco VARO and the D1BC employ a combined total of approximately 800 employees.
In his former role as Assistant Director of the Cleveland VARO, Mr. Limpose assisted the facility Director with all phases of operations and management for delivery of VA benefits and services to Ohio’s Veterans. He also helped to oversee the Cleveland Regional Loan Center; a National Call Center; and VA’s Tiger Team, which expedites the processing of high priority claims for VA disability compensation, from all jurisdictions within VA.
Previously, Mr. Limpose served as the Veterans Service Center Manager in the Milwaukee VARO. Prior to that position, Mr. Limpose served as the Milwaukee VARO’s Pension Management Center (PMC) Manager.
Before joining the Milwaukee VARO’s management team, Mr. Limpose worked in the St. Petersburg VARO. Beginning his government career in 1991 as a Clerk Typist in the St. Petersburg VARO’s Finance Division, Mr. Limpose advanced through progressively more responsible positions, which included the following: Veterans Claims Examiner, Rating Veterans Service Representative, and Coach. Mr. Limpose has been involved in many national initiatives, which included the Pension Original Consolidation Workgroup, Regional Office Performance Metrics, and PMC Skill Certification Workgroup.
Mr. Limpose is a native of Salem, Ohio. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from The College of Wooster (Ohio) and is a graduate from the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. Mr. Limpose and his wife, Terri, have one daughter.
Darlene Jones was appointed as an Assistant Director of the Waco VARO on November 8, 2009.
Ms. Jones began her VA career in 1999 as a Veterans Service Representative (VSR) at the St. Petersburg VA Regional Office. During her tenure at St. Petersburg, she advanced to the position of Rating Specialist; and subsequently to the position of Supervisory Veterans Service Representative, where she was responsible for various teams within the Veterans Service Center.
In 2007, Ms. Jones accepted a position with the C&P Service, as Chief of Program and Development Staff. In that role, she was a first line supervisor for one of the three procedures teams. She was responsible for supporting a number of programs, which included Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD), Quick Start Consolidation, and Pension Management Centers’ Consolidation. Also, Ms. Jones served as the VA Chair on the BDD Working Group for the Benefits Executive Council. She was instrumental in coordinating the development of various initiatives, including the Pre-Discharge website, BDD pamphlet, and Quick Start pamphlet.
Ms. Jones was born in Camden, Arkansas. She holds a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration from St. Leo University, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Troy State University.
Ms. Jones is an alumnus of the Leadership VA (LVA) Class of 2009, the VBA 2010 Assistant Director Development Program (ADDP), and the Federal Executive Institute (FEI) class of 2011.
Ms. Jones and her husband David have two sons, Christopher and Brandon. David works with the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System Medical Center in Temple, Texas.
Pandi Van Houten was appointed to this position in April 2010. Throughout her VA career, she has earned numerous outstanding performance awards.
Gerald B. “Jerry” Bacon was appointed to this position in November 2012. He previously served as Assistant Director for Oversight and Outreach at the VR&E Service, a position held since December 2010. Mr. Bacon served as a U.S. Army Infantryman and as Grocery Manager for the Defense Commissary Agency in Stuttgart, Germany.
