The Pittsburgh Regional Office delegates a representative to conduct regularly occurring outreach at local VA Medical Centers in the Pittsburgh area, as described below:
Location: University Drive, Main building, 1st floor (Next to the Patient Advocate, main floor)
When: 1st Wednesday of each month | 8:00am-4:30pm
Target Audience: All Veterans
Location: Aspinwall, (Palliative Care; Building 51 Room 1A117 in the B hall of 1 South)
When: 2nd Wednesday of the month | 8:00am-4:30pm
Target Audience: Hospitalized and Hospice Veterans
Location: Aspinwall, Building 69 (Domiciliary)
When: 4th Wednesday of the month | 8:00am-4:30pm
Target Audience: Homeless Veterans, CWT participants, Domiciliary Residents

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be open to Veterans, their families, and the general public.The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Wheeling Vet Center, Workforce WV and OVMC, along with numerous community partners, are working hard to eradicate Veteran homelessness.
During the Stand Down, homeless Veterans and other Veterans will learn of the various resources VA and other community providers can assist them with including: VA surplus for all Veterans, clothing, health screenings, medical care, hygiene products, rapid re-housing, prevention of substance abuse, help with addictions, counseling, as well as spiritual support, employment & training opportunities .There will be events for children. There will also be give-aways and door prizes of items donated by community members and businesses. Representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs will be available to assist with filing claims for compensation and to answer claims-related questions.

We honor U.S. Navy Veteran and Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Fame announcer, Vin Scully, who will retire after this season. Scully, 87, is currently at home recovering from a medical procedure. Get well, Vin!
In September, the unemployment rate for Post-9/11 Veterans was 5%. The rate for all Veterans was 4.3%. The national unemployment rate was 5.1%.
VA announced that 25 additional communities have joined the Veterans Economic Communities Initiative for transitioning Servicemembers, Veterans, and their families.
