Account Titling and Fund Protection

To help ensure that VA benefit payments are used for the needs of the beneficiary, every fiduciary must ensure that VA payments are going into a properly titled account, that only includes the beneficiary's funds.  As indicated on the Federal Fiduciary Agreement, the bank account must be titled as follows:

Beneficiary's Name
by Fiduciary's Name
Federal Fiduciary

If your financial institution doesn't want to use the term, "Federal Fiduciary", they can use another title, such as guardian or custodian, as long as the account title connotes a fiduciary relationship.  Likewise, if you are a court-appointed fiduciary, you should use the title granted by the court, such as guardian or conservator.

Upon setting up a properly titled account, we recommend that you bring a Direct Deposit Sign-Up Form
to the financial institution, fill it out with them, and ask them to fax it to the Milwaukee Fiduciary Hub
at 414-336-7785.
