VA’s Los Angeles Regional Benefit Office (RO) administers a variety of services, including Compensation, Education, Insurance, Loan Guaranty, Pension, and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment for Veterans, Servicemembers, their families and survivors in the LA counties of Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura. We offer the following additional services:

  • Counseling about eligibility for VA benefits and how to apply
  • Information about VA health care and memorial benefits
  • Outreach to Veterans, including those who are homeless or at risk for homelessness and older, minority, and women Veterans
  • Public affairs

More About the Los Angeles Regional Benefit Office

Working with the U.S. Department of Defense on Integrated Disability Evaluation System

The Los Angeles RO is actively engaged in the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES), a joint program with the Department of Defense (DOD) to improve the disability rating process. The program aims to create a single disability exam conducted to VA standards and used by both VA and DOD, develop a single disability rating completed by VA that is binding on both departments, and provide payments of VA benefits within 30 days of a Servicemember’s separation from service. Our RO partners with Edwards Air Force Base, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Fort Irwin Army Base, and the Twenty-Nine Palms Naval Hospital to jointly implement IDES for Servicemembers requiring medical evaluation reviews. We have seven full-time Military Service Coordinators (MSC) who actively manage IDES claims to ensure timely and accurate outcomes.

Helping VA Complete More Claims

The Los Angeles RO is participating in VA’s Day One Brokering Center (D1BC) initiative. The D1BCs are specialized claims processing teams that are helping VA improve claims services nationwide. From March 2012 through June 2012, a total of 3,800 claims were brokered to the DIBC.
