More About the Houston Regional Benefit Office

Operating VA’s Home Loan Guaranty Program for Veterans in Texas and Other Locales

The Houston RO is one of eight VA regional loan centers (RLCs) administering VA’s Home Loan Guaranty program, which helps Veterans obtain mortgage loans from private lenders by guaranteeing a portion of the loan against loss. This program can also prevent Veterans from losing their homes during temporary financial difficulties. We serve Veterans in 90 counties in southern Texas and Veterans residing in Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. We also assist with delinquent VA loans on a nationwide basis.

Operating One of the Largest Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Divisions

Houston RO contains one of the largest VR&E divisions in the nation. Our San Antonio office is the largest out-based office in the nation, with responsibility for service delivery at Brooke Army Medical Center and the Center for the Intrepid. The VR&E VetSuccess on Campus program assists Veterans and Servicemembers with service-connected disabilities by helping them prepare for, find, and keep suitable employment. For Veterans with serious service-connected disabilities, VA also offers services to improve their ability to live as independently as possible.

Enhancing VA’s Customer Service with the National Call Center

The Houston RO houses one of nine VA National Call Centers, which centralizes phone inquiries and allows employees to focus on serving Veterans. The number to call is 1-800-827-1000.
