Meet Our Leadership Team

 

William J. Kane

Director: William J. Kane

William Kane was appointed Director of the Denver Regional Office (RO) in March 2012. He administers benefits and services to Veterans, Servicemembers, their families and survivors in Colorado and Wyoming and oversees the Cheyenne Veterans Service Center. Before that, he spent about two years as Director of VA’s Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kane served more than 24 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer.


Melanie Renaye Murphy

Assistant Director: Melanie Renaye Murphy

M. Renaye Murphy began her VA career in 1998 as a Veterans Service Representative with the Oakland RO. She has worked in ROs in Portland, Ore.; Houston; and Seattle. She has also served as a Rating Veterans Service Representative, coach, Assistant Veterans Service Center Manager, and Veterans Service Center Manager.


Chuck D. Cates

Veterans Service Center Manager: Chuck D. Cates

Chuck Cates took this position at the Cheyenne RO in March 2010. He began his VA career in 2001 as a Veterans Service Representative in St. Petersburg, Fla. Prior to his career with VA, Mr. Cates served in the U.S. Army for five years as a military intelligence analyst and noncommissioned officer.


Jim Ziruolo

Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (VR&E) Officer: Jim Ziruolo

Jim Ziruolo was named to this position in August 2010. Prior to arriving, he was the VR&E Officer in Houston RO. Mr. Ziruolo also worked as the Assistant VR&E Officer in Seattle. Mr. Ziruolo began his VA career in 1989 as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist in Columbus, Ohio, after graduating from Kent State University with a Master of Education.

Mr. Ziruolo completed VA’s Division Leadership and Management Training at the Veteran Benefits Academy in Baltimore in February 2004.

Mr. Ziruolo served in the Air Force/Air Force Reserves for 22 years. During that time, he logged 3,500 hours of flight time as a C-130 Flight Engineer.
