The Boise RO is committed to ending homelessness among Veterans by the end of 2015. A key effort to advance this national and VA goal is our work with area VA medical centers and the U.S. Department of Labor to sponsor and organize one-day Homeless Stand Downs in Boise, Pocatello, and Post Falls twice annually in August and September. The Stand Downs, held at local churches or at the Idaho National Guard Armory, host approximately 15 agencies and other organizations that combine services to reduce housing instability among Veterans. Services include medical, dental, vision, and mental health screening and assistance; housing and shelter referrals; job assistance and nutrition assistance; federal and VA benefits assistance; and child care, school supplies, identification cards, and other help as needed.
